Iberia bringing back recycling

NEW IBERIA, La. (AP) - The Iberia Parish Council has voted to enter into a contract with garbage collection company IESI that will return recycling to the parish after a one-year hiatus.

The Advocate reports the $203,000 contract is a drop in cost compared with the $248,000 contract the parish had, which ended in May. The recycling material pickup service, which council Chairman Bernard Broussard said Wednesday could start in about 60 days, will occur every other week and cost each household $1.86.
