how do you know he didnt use tulane as leverage? he ended being the top paid sunbelt coach at the time. If he did use tulane as leverage, it worked.
Slappy, obviously, just from reading this link, everything is possible in a contract. But, using Middle Tennessee having a one-time game at MT (or $200k) is not a norm in coaching contracts. Not to say I don't like it... but that is very unusual.
Heck... why don't we put this in Hud's contract... "Hud's wife dances at halftime with Ragin Jazz and we'll add $10k to his salary"... and we'd make this BS list too!!!
Here is a buyout claus (variable depending on the destination school) a $1.5 million money game followed by an even steven H&H series.
At least we were given some kind of update on Hud's contract, it's been a while. Sounds like it will be done soon, and then before the ink fully dries, oh, around January, Mr. farmer might be working on a new one. It's the dilemma we face having a good coach, but it beats the alternative and we all know what that's like.
If I were going to use a school as leverage it would NOT be one whose huge home crowds can hear echos when a pin drops inside the Superdome.
Gotta give Coach Hud credit, he is smart enough to know, even with a bunch of zero's, Tulane is not the place to be. Can't wait to pound them in Cajun field, that's gonna be a sight to see.
i also think he was smart enough to use tulane to double his salary after year 1, well probably his agent actually
