Default 2012: 10 years from now.....

In 10 years, if we have had.......

    -several winning seasons in football

    -several bowl game appearances

-a few victories over schools from Major Conferences

-a top-25 ranking in football at some point

-a 40,000+ attendance average in a newly remodeled Cajun Feild

-several conference championships in all sports

-a handful of NCAA basketball tourney appearances

    -a few WCWS appearances

-a handful of Baseball Regional appearances

....does it really matter what conference we are in at the time?

Let me answer this for you.

    It doesn't.

    ECU would disagree with you...

All those things you mentioned are more difficult to achieve in the Sunbelt.

    -several winning seasons in football

More money via TV contracts, less reliance on money games

    -several bowl game appearances

More bowl game tie-ins, better chance to attend bowls

-a few victories over schools from Major Conferences

better conference, better players, better chance to knock off the big boys

-a top-25 ranking in football at some point

better conference, better likelihood of getting ranked in the top 25, because voters respect your SOS more

-a 40,000+ attendance average in a newly remodeled Cajun Feild

Tech, Tulane and Southern Miss will lead to better crowds at Cajun Field

-several conference championships in all sports

    This wold not change

-a handful of NCAA basketball tourney appearances

Leave a perennially one bid leauge

    -a few WCWS appearances

    Not likely to change

-a handful of Baseball Regional appearances

better conference, likely to get more teams in a regional

True, but the winning seasons will still happen.

    -several bowl game appearances

More bowl game tie-ins, better chance to attend bowls
CUS is bleeding bowls. The difference will be minimal from here on out. Still, either way, we are going to go to some bowl games.

-a few victories over schools from Major Conferences

better conference, better players, better chance to knock off the big boys

It's not like CUSA is the SEC dude. Difference here will result in 4 instead of 3 big-time wins. Big Wow.

HA! It's about winning all of your conference games and beating a couple of big boys. That will get you ranked every time. Heck, we didn't do either last season and still got votes.

-a 40,000+ attendance average in a newly remodeled Cajun Feild

Tech, Tulane and Southern Miss will lead to better crowds at Cajun Field
Go look at the top 10 attended games at Cajun Field. You won't see Tech, Tulane, or USM much on there. Mostly a bunch of SBC games, a couple of big name teams, and McNeese and Southern. This is a myth.

-several conference championships in all sports

    This wold not change

-a handful of NCAA basketball tourney appearances

Leave a perennially one bid leauge
Without Memphis, CUSA is now a one bid league as well. Truth.

    -a few WCWS appearances

    Not likely to change

-a handful of Baseball Regional appearances

better conference, likely to get more teams in a regional

Again, you're splitting hairs here. They might get a few more in over a 2 or 3 year span, but an SBC that keeps its power baseball schools and adds a top-20 program in Texas State would almost if not in fact jump CUSA.

    Face it dude.

We can accomplish everything we want to in either league.

Yes, it would be fun to be conference mates with Rice, Tech, Tulane, and USM, but they don't want us man.

And, I am not gonna lose a wink of sleep over it.

You are right, they simply do not want us, and they love Ruston? Not as sure as you it is about not wanting us, as them filling a need and LTU worked awfully hard to fill the need.

I guess this waiting will be over in a week, a month, surely before the end of July. At that point we can all worry about the things we can do to move forward.

There is no reason Tech should have outworked us for the opportunity to host a committee visit. Some say we are working hard behind the scenes, while others say we have no shot, they don't want us and we have accepted our fate. Which is it? Who really knows just what the hell is going on? Silence vs. exciting a fan base with stadium plans, potential conference affiliation, status of contract finalization, etc is sometimes perplexing.

How can anybody not understand the importance of these coming decisions and their very negative effect on us!!!! Just ____es me off that Tech has done the most with the least and we the worst with the most!!!! Now that is some obvious hyperbole but it is very true to a certain degree!!!

I think Tech's chances of an invitation are about 50-50. If they're in, it will not be good for UL. If they're not, they'll join the SBC, which will be good for UL. An instant rivalry will exist between us, and that should be fun.

And while Tech is proactive, UL again remains reactive.

    It doesn't.

It does matter, being in a better conference gives you a much better chance of achieving all of those goals you listed.
