The family of 85 year old William "Bill" Heath, is asking for the public's help in finding their loved one. Heath was last seen by a neighbor at his Halcott Drive home in Lafayette on Wednesday, April 4th. Family members who live around the corner became concerned when they noticed his car was missing the next day.
"We knew something was wrong because he only leaves once a day," said his grandson Mike Deshotels, who adds his grandfather is a man of routine. "He leaves around two o'clock everyday, he goes to the Piccadilly [cafeteria] and comes back home because he's trying to limit his driving."
Heath's car is also missing, it's a white 1999 Buick Lesabre, with a Louisiana license plate of IRL 902. Inside Heath's home, the family says everything appears in order, though they did notice his cordless phone is missing.
The 85 year old is in fairly good health, but has been showing signs of early dementia. "He's been getting very forgetful, and repeats himself a lot," said Deshotels.
The only clue the family has had so far is a credit card transaction on Heath's account, which was processed from a New Iberia gas station the night of April 4th.
"We just don't know where he could be, if he's safe, if he's hurt," said Deshotels.
The family has filed a missing persons report with the Lafayette Police Department, they ask anyone who may have seen Bill Heath to call police at 337-291-8600.
