UL Petroleum Engineering graduates at all levels - BS, MS, and PhD - do and will get tremendous job opportunities. As with most high profile colleges of engineering, there are some companies that tend to do very well with the graduates of those programs in terms of hiring. This is due to these companies investing considerable amounts of time to build relationships with the students. Notice that the effort is expended toward the companies getting the graduates and not the graduates finding jobs. This is the great position the graduates of petroleum engineering at UL are in (actually true for all fo the departments in the college). Currently, example "top" picks for UL petroleum engineering graduates would include Chevron, Marathon, Franks, Baker-Hughes, and Knight - only to name a few. There are many more that do very well recruiting at UL for the graduates. Note that several of the UL petroleum engineering graduates are Aramco and other country-tied company organizations. This offers the students of the program to study within a very diverse and opportunistic learning environment. Students at UL Petroleum Engineering could very well be studying right with a future Minister of Petroleum for a country - cool experience! In fact, several very high ranking positions in the global industry are held by UL graduates: ranging from top positions in companies (Chevron) to high ranking positions in countries (Saudi). Currently there are formal educational ties to several countries - examples are Brazil, Norway, Saudi, Mexico, and China (all current and developing partners for US companies).

The region surrounding UL is a dream for a petroleum engineering student. The region is a key world-wide hub for the global petroleum industry. Many of the graduates work for service companies (Bakers, Knights, Franks, etc.) as opposed to engery companies themselves due to relationships built up over time via interactions at UL. Imagine studying within such a dynamic region - this is not true for most other petroleum engineering programs. One reason why the department has grown from less than 100 to over 300 in five years.

Over the past several years, the placement rate for UL Petroleum Engineering students is 100%. A very nice position to be in. Why? The department and college are very focused toward (1) building long-term relationships with companies; (2) initiated a suite of strong student "out-of-classroom" development opportunities that place UL graduates in a very competitive role over graduates from other programs; and (3) establishmnet of a very strong student organizations that serve to grow the student's potential for being a must hire (UL petroleum engineering's SPE student chapter won "Best in World" in 2009 & "Best in Noth America" in 2010.

All in all, the future of UL petroleum engineering graduates is very bright! Students enrolling in UL Engineering are seeing the merits of this great choice come forth as the offers roll in. Invest your time in engineering at UL and your return will be a teamed approach toward helping you design a truly great and exciting career.

I just Joined this thread an i have gained a lot, just got admmited to PE masters and i have been wondering about UL pe Grad employability as schools like Texas A&M will bost that there placement is 100%.by the way i am looking for a room or roomate to share an apartment at a rate of $300 please if you guys know anyone this is my no 7574698974.

Engineering Day is generally in late March. That is a function where university officials, students, and representatives from industry share what their fields involve with touring high school students. Career Day will be on Thursday Sept. 13. That is where students visit with industry representatives (not just the energy industry but all technical fields) who will be recruiting on campus in the coming weeks. That function will be at the Convention Center this year due to the Student Union work.
