Gotcha. And basically it is a football move as that is the money sport but yes it does affect the other sports

I don't understand why people are in such a hurry to get out of the SBC Which UL should be ruling every year in every sport, to go to another conference which will be that much tougher to compete in & ever win. Do folks think this will help attendance numbers rise to the level that it will increase budgets & make it easier to compete for conference championships? I don't see this in UL's near future or it being good for their near future benefits. In fact I don't see a move like this hleping UL's status for while.
Getting out of the SBC probably wouldn't be a good move. But you know bigger is better or so everyone thinks. Like anything else everyone is looking at money. But I think you are right..
Why not add teams to the SBC that will help the SBC??? Why are some conferences deemed better than others?? Is it NCAA that has "rated" them like this??
BK, I understand your view. Let us remember even the worst of the CUSA teams get more money, morfe pub, more everything than the best Sun Belt team, and the new conference is expected to do even more.
I think the view is always if you get more television money you can improve your physical plants, and get better athletes simply because of your neighborhood.
It may be nuts but that is the prevailing thoughts I think. When does preception become reality? I don't know.
i would rather be where we are in the sunbelt than what uab is in conference usa everyday of the week.
Again why can't we stay here and SBC make itself a better place to be??
New Mexico State (basketball RPI, FBS)
UTSA (market, FBS)
Texas State (baseball RPI, market, FBS
Oral Roberts (basketball and baseball RPI)
Louisiana Tech (BCS rankings, FBS)
Georgia Southern (BCS rankings)
North Florida (market, future addition)
College of Charleston (basketball and baseball RPI)
Appalachain State (BCS rankings)
UNCC (market, FBS)
Old Dominion (basketball and baseball RPI, market)
All of these schools would add value to the league in one sport or another or in markets.
I am very serious.
Have you done your homework?
I have.
RPI reviews, attendance figures, athletic budgets, demographics.
Each school I mentioned performs at or near the top of the SBC schools upon comparison within 1 or more of these categories.
Looking for markets? They're in the list.
Looking for crackerjack basketball and baseball programs? They're in the list.
Looking for some salty football programs? Threy're in the list.
Looking for big time fan support? Ditto.
Bottom line though, is that each school I mentioned would be very favorable to an SBC invitation. It's a realistic list.
We can talk all day about adding UAB, USM, Rice, Tulane, and Missouri State. It's all a fantasy.
I would like to see the schools that are rumored to be getting into the alliance (FIU Tech MT ASU UTSA etc ) and see how UL stacks up against them!!! With all the data that you have collected could you give us an idea if we should or shouldn't be in that group and why-----Thanks for your time and efforts!!!!
