2012 Poll: Conference Affiliation

The fact that nothing is being made public does not mean that our administration is just sitting back and not doing anything to possibly be considered for an invite to another conference. I think that they are taking the correct approach which is apparently to keep any of those discussions out of the public eye. I have no idea how detailed that any possible discussions have been, or even if any formal discussions have taken place. However, I have been told by a VERY reliable source that UL DOES have friends in CUSA! Weather or not we have enough friends to merrit a possible invite is yet to be known.

Notice of a visit to our campus would be a
good indicator. I would at least hope
that those contacts and our presentation would warrant a look at what we have to offer now and what is planned for the future. If Tech can get a campus visit in Ruston, UL should certainly get one, assuming we are actively pursuing this. Such an announcement would be revealing.

I'd like to believe this is true, but the fact that UL is not on the list of schools that are being visited by the commissioners of CUSA and the MWC leads me to believe it is just wishful thinking.

I don't think we are even on CUSA's radar. Bottom line, we don't look like any candidates they are after except Tech.

So you saying no interview no job. Man there are very few situations where you get the job simply by letting people know you would be open to taking it.

Well I will say this ---if Tech gets in and we don't ---we are in trouble ---DEEP TROUBLE-----This would put them 2nd or 3rd in recruits eyes and it should ---their money intake would sky-rocket and we would have a terrible time trying to get kids from them----Now they would have Tulane, Rice, Tech, and S miss telling kids that we are the lowest of conferences-----These are just facts of what goes on in recruiting---The TV appearances etc would all line up against us---This is huge---I can already see the posts to follow about its not a big deal---This is a huge moment in UL athletic history---Did I mention the forever ULLLLLL tag being with Monroe????

-----Well Tech would now be playing CONFERENCE GAMES in our back yard---We have used/try to use the WAC and its distance against them for years and now they would be HERE-------More TV and more money-----When you hear a negative from somebody it can be effective---When you hear it from 5-6 people it becomes very effective----It is just the way it is and I can only hope it doesn't happen!!!!

The official news could be weeks to months away, but I suspect they will let LTU , N Texas, and FIU know quickly if it is a no to them.
