Gotta walk before you can run looks like we starting pretty well. Softball good AGAIN. Football looks like it is takin a good turn if we can keep Coach Hud. I think baseball will turn around. Don't know what to say about basketball.
Cajun Nation----I don't know but ---Have you ever recruited High School Kids???? Well it is a very difficult process and maybe as tough a selling situation that you can imagine-----The advantages that we now have diminish and do so rapidly----Again read over your post----The only thing that makes sense in regard to refuting my charges is that we will have to work like a dog---Unfortunately so will all the other schools with more tools to work with!!!!
I don't think it's as much about keeping coach Hud, as keeping T-Joe and Farmer. They've made the commitment to athletics, and none of us expects Hud to be around for very long anyway. I would love nothing more for the Hudspeth family to settle down here allowing for a long coaching career with the Cajuns, but realistically, I put my trust primarily in this new administration to maintain coaching talent.
can't exactly change coaches every other year and think we will find success so hopefully he will stay a while
baseball too?
anyone wonder what the perception is of non UL fans as to coach huds contract? Someone (nonfan) was busting me up yesterday because they remembered the contract being agreed to in principle back in december (from the da) and yet still nothing signed... they predicted hud to arkansas... I disagreed... but realized how bad it makes us look... perception wise.
I totally agree with this. If people think you can lose a very successful coach, and then just plug in another, just because Farmer did it once, is sadly mistaken. I agree our program itself is on the rise, and the UL administration's commitment is just as important as a good coach, but at our current level, we are very fortunate to get a coach like Coach Hud and when he's gone, it's a roll of the dice whether we end up with another coach that can bring what Coach Hud can.
HUD is the CEO of our university's biggest revenue generating sport and the largest marketing tool we have. He is also a pretty good ambassador for UL. A signed contract, with a buy out is insurance for UL and provides the funding to hire a proven winner and keep the momentum. Let's not mess it up UL, take the money from someone else, you can't afford to lose here. Start being proactive and the support will follow.
Think you are right on that. Think the same will hold true with other sports too. Only time will tell.
