Tennessee (30-0) and Alabama (29-0) went undefeated in non-conference play in 2007. Those were the last teams to do it.

Unfortunately, I do not see the Cajuns' RPI being high enough for a national seed. If the Cajuns go undefeated and a lot of things go right (meaning Cajun opponents finish unusually strong), the Cajuns might, might be able to swing an RPI of about 10. But probably about 11-13 in that scenario. The RPI simply favors the stronger conferences too much once conference play kicks in. The Cajuns may be at their zenith (w/ respect to the RPI number) after this weekend. After that, it will be a desperate attempt to hold off the elite conference schools that will be charging hard up the RPI rankings.

LOL yeah it is an endless spiral down into confusion.

Of course when they play on the same day you now need clarification with Ragin' Cajuns Women and Ragin' Cajuns Men.

Alas it was once so simple.

I am amused when some schools introduce the redundant modifier "Lady" to a nickname that is already feminine ... such as the "Lady" Blue Hens.

And then I think about the men competing as the "Blue Hens" and am quite thankful that we have the best nickname in the country.

    No doubt.

The ironic thing is, if you go to RaginCajuns.com or the Advertiser you will be hard pressed to find a story headline that actually uses "Ragin' Cajuns"

There are some but they are few and far between.

Wasn't it McNeese who sported the Lady Cowboys?

The Ragin Cajun brand has plenty of recognition. Specifying gender becomes redundant.

If softball , or football yes redundent because there is only one gender playing softball and football. How about basketball, soccer, and other sports that have two different teams. I have nothing against either way you do it, but clarity is always preferred.

Should UL list this as a rival game in their own publication? Are they a true rival, or simply another in state rival? I suggest the latter. I can think of a program I would hate to lose to more, and would enjoy beating more than the McNutt group. Of course that team fears competition much like their academic owners demand non competition by law.

Losing to McNutt U in any game is not upsetting beyond losing. Losing a series or multiple games makes me wonder about how good we really are? That I submit is not a rival, but concern about the current status of any Ragin'Cajun team. If the McNutts continue to improve they could become a rival, but right now just a bad nightmare like the WKU loss.

BeauCajun and I will be there as well (weather permitting of course). Is anyone else going to make the quick and easy drive to LC to see the game? 6 o'clock start means you won't have to leave work terribly early to make it.
