I attended the game after getting a ticket on late notice, which was fun to experience but frustrating at times to watch.
----Disagree----Height prevails----tet au tet----Do you know why the University of Kansas is referred to as KU?????

I don't know specifically about KU, but interestingly, several of the original Big 12 teams referred to themselves that way. Any idea why?

    KU - University of Kansas
    OU - University of Oklahoma
    CU - University of Colorado

    IU - Indiana University

I wonder if UL had gone the Louisiana University route, like Indiana did, would we be known simply as Louisiana today and not have had a 2nd school like ULM to deal with?

    That's a bold idea...I like it.

Outside of a drastic height difference, many coaches would disagree. If that's the case the taller teams would always win. Modern basketball is more about length (wingspan) than height.

Example: Kentucky's Anthony Davis wasn't the tallest player on the court last night (KU's Jeff Withey was the tallest and KU's Thomas Robinson was taller than UK's Terrence Jones, too, yet the Wildcats won) but had the biggest impact due to his length in terms of rebounds, blocks and altered shots.

And yes, having grown up in Kansas I'm aware of the name issue. Stems from the old Big 8 days (KU for Kansas, MU for Missouri, NU for Nebraska, OU for Oklahoma, etc.)

Nebraska going with NU instead of U.N. avoids being confused with United Nations.

Nebraska is officially the University of Nebraska Lincoln and their main website calls them UNL. Athletically they Nebraska. From what I have seen, they seem to go more with an "N" rather than "NU".

If we are ever going to get anything done with our name in my lifetime, our best bet might be to just go with LOUISIANA and "L". Forget about the UL and we are no longer required to add Lafayette. We are in violation of nothing. If we did like OU, KU and CU, we could also avoid violation of the name law by going to LU, but we are too entrenched with UL. Our new university name name was poorly thought out and is what led to this debacle. We could have avoided everything by being Louisiana University, we would have achieved exactly what we wanted, and this name law would never have come into play to begin with.

----Well I was assuming length in the height but you must also include the vertical jump in the make up------4 3 pointers equal 6 trips down the court for 2 points---Don't forget the more a team handles the ball the more the TO chances!!!!
