  1. UL Football Tracking the Pro Career of UL's Kimmie Lewis

I saw Kemmie Lewis the other day and he had some great news. He plans on graduating from UL in January. I have to admit, when I first saw Kimmie I had no idea who he was, yes he looks great but is sporting a slighlty different look. He has lost the braids and is clean cut, he always looked good but his style now make him look like someone who could step right into the corporate world.

I remember back in 2004 when UL was taking on Troy and the game opened with a bang, Jerry Babb and Kemmie Lewis hooked up for a 47 yard completion on the very first play of the game. WOW

They say big games and big plays leave you longing for more, and it must be true because after he graduates Kemmie plans on giving the Arena football world a twirl.

It was good seeing you Kemmie. Continued success.

He had a great night with two int's for the Mudbugs!

Great to see some of the old UL players again!

He's definitely living his arena dream in his own backyard.

  6. Default UL's Kimmie Lewis an SIFL Hooters Player of the Quarter

Three repeat winners were among the Hooters Player of the Quarter, the Southern Indoor Football League announced Thursday, June 4.

John Paul Jones of the Louisiana Swashbucklers, Kimmie Lewis of the Acadiana Mudbugs and Darrick Wallace of the Austin Turfcats each garnered their second Hooters gift card after being selected by a panel of league coaches and staff. The first player of the quarter recognized play from weeks 1-4 of the SIFL's inaugural season. Today's announcement covers weeks 5-7.

    Winners are as follows:

DEFENSE: Kimmee Lewis, Acadiana Mudbugs. Despite two losses to the Swashbucklers, Lewis continued his pace of at least one interception in every game he's played this season. He currently leads the SIFL with 8 picks and his average of 1.6 interceptions per game is the best in all four indoor football leagues.

  7. Default Kimmie Lewis Interception Preserves Win for MudBugs

LAFAYETTE — Acadiana's Kimmie Lewis intercepted a pass by Houma Conquerors quarterback Omar Haughbook with just seconds left to preserve a 35-33 Southern Indoor Football League victory by the Mudbugs on Saturday night inside Blackham Coliseum on the University of Louisiana at Lafayette campus.

The Conquerors (1-6) scored with a minute to go to make it 35-33 when Haughbook scrambled in from 12 yards out, but Houma was stopped on the two-point conversion, which would have tied the game at 35.

But the Conquerors recovered an onsides kick with 36 seconds to go, before the interception by Lewis sealed the win for the Mudbugs (4-3).

Acadiana also defeated Houma 31-23 on May 9 in Lafayette.

  8. Default Amazing interception streak comes to and end for UL's Kimmie Lewis

So much for Kimmee Lewis' streak of an interception in every Southern Indoor Football League the Acadania Mudbug defensive has played in this season.

After posting 12 interceptions in the first nine games, Lewis' pick run ended Sunday night when the Mudbugs defeated the Texas Hurricanes 44-30. Lewis had to settle for a fumble recovery.

Then again, Lewis' skills weren't in demand as much thanks to a defensive line that pressured Texas QB Kendrick Cheneau for most of the night.

LAKE CHARLES - Acadiana Mudbugs defensive back Kimmee Lewis has been named the Southern Indoor Football League's Most Valuable Player for the inaugural 2009 season, it was announced today.

Lewis was a unanimous selection in the voting process conducted among team coaches and front offices, league staff and fan balloting that counted as one collective vote. Teams were not allowed to vote for their own coaches.

Except for the two Acadiana votes, Lewis received all 13 possible votes.

La. Swashbuckler defensive lineman John Paul Jones was runner-up with 12. Lewis also outdistanced Damien Huren and Sammy Knight of Louisiana and Houma's Derrick Patterson for defensive back of the year in the fan voting.

Lewis' performance in the SIFL inaugural game at Austin (three interceptions, one for a touchdown) set the tone for the season as he registered a pick in each of the Mudbugs' first nine games. He finished the season with a league-high 12 and also posted a key interception in last week's semifinal game at Austin.
