Tig, montrel carter, figaro, and Jamal Robinson looked VERY good. I can't wait till Jalen Fields gets here. Our defense is gonna be scary good
Figaro will be good, if he can get some more work in catching the ball, i saw him drop numerous easy balls during warm-ups, and in the game
On Blaine's behalf, 1) Blocking was not that good causing him to rush and several times he was hit while passing also, 2) he runs quite often, but yesterday when he took off to run if anyone even touched him they stopped the play. So the "backups" and the "Spring Rules" put a negative spin on his style of play. Neither of these will be present in the Fall. The good news is that we have two great quarterbacks; with even more in the hopper!!
A few more points that should be mentioned.
1.) Neither teams RB/QB combo had the unified line that they will probably be starting behind when they are all one team.
2.) Gautier's one long run where he was touched down after about 15 yards would have been about a 80 yard TD if he would have had to be tackled.
3.) Bret baer is awesome. At his success rate on onside kicks we just go for one every kickoff.
4.) I was one of the fools who sat over on the student side, needless to say I got a tad to much sun.
Director of FB Operations T.W. stated on BeV (without JayWalker) that the stratagy of the White Team was to draft heavy on the O-Line and D-Line.
When you have two good quarterbacks going up against each other, the "Time Machine" stratagy is not a bad way to go. Unfortunately/Fortunately they needed the Commish to find them a running back.
Blaine did not have a good game throwing yesterday. He was off, way off, on a number of passes. He did have a number good throws, too, but many of the bad ones were real bad. However, like you, I think was just a hiccup. One mediocre scrimmage. I think in the fall we'll see the real BG once again.
Blaine showed in the New Orleans Bowl he does not need a lot of time, but I still think every split second helps.
It looked to me as if most of the starters & major contributors were on the white team. Gauthier seems like he is feeling the heat from Broadway. The best thing I saw besides a wide open offense W/ good physicality was the coverage of our DBs.The most disappointing was Surgeant's effort. Don't know if he was playing injured, but he hardly ever got separation.
