Welcome, and good message. I am with you completely. I look forward to watching this team development. They deserve the full support of everyone who loves Cajun basketball.

After a very disaponting year last year and this years team looking young and not very good I thought we were heading down a long and downward sprial. I thought the "sky was falling" after watching this team play against quatica early in the season. However I have had a complete change of heart after witnessing what this team has done over the past few weeks. The heart and tennacity they play with night in and night out is like I've never seen from a Cajun team. We've got some very good young talent that keeps getting better every game. Guys who I thought were not very good at the start of the season are coming around. One in particular is Tyren Johnson who with a little more confidence and experince looks like he will be a hell of a player. There will be a few bumps in the road but the future looks very very bright. After hearing the Coach Lee show tonight and the passion and vision he has for this program I have no doubt the future is very bright. I have been watching Cajun basketball since I was a kid in the Fletcher days and I have never been this eager to watch a team. Coach Lee has a plan for this program, which I don't beleive his predecesor did. Recruting freshman is the way to build a program for long term success. With this class and next years signings we are in for a bright future which hopefully will include a deep tournament run in the near future. Bringing freshman in, along with a couple of good JC transfers every so often to fill in gaps is the way to long term success. There is no doubt the Cajuns will finish at least in the middle of the pack in the belt and make some noise come tournament time in the dome. This city needs to rally around and support this team. If this is as bad as it gets and is a "down" year, I can't wait for the good years to start.
Welcome aboard. You were not the only soul who thought this was going to be a long season. But a downward spiral, no!

Coach Lee, as you said, has a plan. Plus he is recruiting players with some character. The last time I saw UL BB teams play this hard was during the Bobby Paschal days.

We, aslso, have another good BB team. If you have the opportunity, check out the Lady Ragin Cajuns. If you do, my advice is to get there early so that you can find a parking spot near the gym, and find a good seat in the gym. It has been refurbished, but it is a PIT!! When the fans get into the game it gets real loud and boisterous. Check it out!!

Tyren Johnson has got a sweet touch on his shot. I wish he would get more playing time. You know who else I like, is Stephen Dees. Everybody is hyped about his older brother, deservingly so, but Stephen is quick as a cat. He doesn't do much on offense, but he harrasses those guards as soon as they cross midcourt.

I too was not expecting much, but somebody forgot to tell these guys this was a rebuilding year.

Any one who listened to Coach Lee's show last night will appreciate how excited he is about our future. I myself am encouraged. My only reservation is will the guys currently working to become eligible get it done in the classroom. Regarding this year's team, some success in the upcoming road games is needed to keep up the morale of the team and fans. Hopefully, Gray and Milsap will be able to play on Saturday. In his show, Coach said Gray will play if grades are posted. If not, he will play next Wed. at UNO. He also said he heard something on Monday which makes him believe the NCAA clearinghouse will issue a ruling on Milsap by the end of the week.

Default What can we expect from this Basketball team?

For those that are local and can go to every game, what should we expect from this years team? The game I saw on TV, I saw a Cajun team a bit short on talent but they had grit and heart. How far do you guys think we can go?

I'll bite, these could go to the semi's of the tourney depending on matchups in the conference tourney. With the early valley I see the only of getting to the dance is getting good draws in the Conference Tourney and then outplaying the hell out of Western in the finals.

Of course come March I may look very smart or then again, How do you like my skirt. Needless to say this team has shown signs of playing with some big boys. I am hoping that Milsap and Gray can come and offer the help we need somewhat. If Hart continues playing the way he can. Ross get's hot at the right time we will be alright. Adam James needs to smart up on the court, I have been dissappointed about him thus far because he is better than he has been playing lately. D. Dees is impressive but I notice against Tech he had a Dwayne Mitchell sleeve on hopefully this is not going to become a problem as the season progresses. I have said this is another post, I have never been more proud of a Ragin Cajun Basketball team even in a 1-3 Home Stand. I thought we beat Cal State, Tenn was good against us. They had our offense defended, the press. Nevada I really thought we played them that will be a game in the end that could get them a better seed.

I feel that Saturday night at SFA is going to be a big game to judge how we are going to be. I can't make the SFA trip but entrust Jay to handle things for me. I am going to try like hell to go to UNO.

I will be at the UNO game. Let me know where you are at and I will come by and say hello. Thanks for the break down.

You nailed it on the grit and heart. Before the season began, I didn't think this team had a snowball's chance in hell of winning more than 11-13 games the entire season. After the first exhibition, I was convinced of it. Then, at the next game, they were a little better..then better at the next one...then better at the next one. You get the idea. I feel that the steady improvement combined with the "grit and heart" component will take this team much further than I originally predicted. It's a shame more people didn't get to see the Tennessee and Nevada games. They were really fun and convinced me of this team's potential to shake things up in the SunBelt this year. If I'm not mistaken, you live in Mandeville, so why not head over for the upcoming UNO game and check them out yourself? Bet you'll be glad you did!

Did anyone watch the Tenn vs. Memphis game the other night. The Vols beat the #17 ranked memphis team by 18 points, that is 8 more than they beat us by. Their guy Lofton (#5) is the real deal, he can shoot lights out. Just goes to show me that our team can play with anyone, and with the addition of Milsaps and Gray we will be getting some much needed depth. I see us having a good season in conference. Dees is very good, and if milsap is as good as advertised it will be hard to defend. With Hart and Wallace giving quality minutes playing physically under the boards, I'm excited to see what we do this seasonl. We are playing as a team, and with confidence which I believe lends its self to winning. Everyone in the area needs to come to the home games and cheer the team on.

Jay Walker where do you sit in the UNO Lakefront arena? I don't think they will let me get down on the floor yet I don't expect there will be a huge crowd.
