EVENT: 2012 Engineering and Technology Expo Day
DATE: Wednesday, March 28, 2012
TIME: 8 a.m. – noon
LOCATION: outside of Madison Hall
INFORMATION: The College of Engineering and the UL Student Chapter of the Louisiana Engineering Society will be hosting the annual Engineering and Technology Expo Day.
High school students will tour the College of Engineering and get a “close up” look at what the fields of engineering and technology have to offer. Students will be participating in several contests: the egg drop, the Cajun chaise contest and paper sandbag.
Students will construct a container that cradles an egg and drop it from a specified distance in the egg drop. In the Cajun chaise competition, students will bring their chairs made of only cardboard and painters tape.
Winning entries must meet certain requirements. For the paper sandbag contest, students will have 10 minutes to build a sandbag out of paper, tape, straws and paperclips. Prizes will be awarded in each contest.
CONTACT: Dr. Mark Zappi, dean of Engineering, at 482-6685 or see him at the expo.
