One Dead in Crash Involving Motorcycle

Lafayette, LA - On March 25, 2011, at approximately 8:40 pm, Lafayette Police responded to the 3100 block of Ambassador Caffery Parkway regarding a crash involving a motorcycle.

Investigators indicate that a Ford F-250 was traveling south on Ambassador Caffery Pkwy in the left travel lane, when a motorcycle entered the roadway from a private drive. The two vehicles collided causing the rider of the motorcycle to be ejected.

The driver of the motorcycle, Thomas Smith (48) of Hope, Arkansas, was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
