Acadiana was well-represented on the Class 3A All-State softball and baseball teams, as 15 of the 34 first team selections as well as two coaches came from within the area.
Kaplan Lady Pirates coach Shay Herpin, who led his program to the school's first-ever state championship and Catholic High of New Iberia's David Jordan, who guided the Panthers to a state runner-up finish, were named All-State Coaches of the Year for softball and baseball respectively.
Parkview Baptist claimed the Most Valuable Player award on both sides as senior pitcher Jessica Dupont won the honor for softball and Forrest Moore on the baseball side.
Dupont, who is a Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns signee, was 19-2 with a 0.99 ERA and 246 strikeouts in 135 innings this past season, while Moore was a perfect 12-0 with an ERA below 1.00 with 105 strikeouts in 50 innings. Both players were solid hitters as well, Dupont batted .484 with 10 home runs and 47 RBIs, while Moore hit .465 with eight home runs and 45 RBIs.
