As many as 200 high school football coaches from Louisiana and surrounding states will be in Lafayette this weekend to take part in the University of Louisiana's annual Cajun Football Clinic.

The three-day clinic includes speakers from the professional, college and high school levels and also includes a crawfish boil, a golf tournament and a trip to Cypress Bayou Casino.

"The clinic gives us a chance to see the high school coaches we work with on a different basis, in a different atmosphere," said clinic director and UL safeties coach Tim Rebowe. "Recruiting is all about relationships, and having an event like this helps us build good relationships.

"If the guys come here, learn some football, see what we have to offer and have a good time, it does nothing but help us down the road."

Featured speakers at the clinic are Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Carl Smith - a one-time member of the UL staff and also former New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator - and Tennessee Titans defensive backs coach Everett Withers.
