I'm tired as hell after staying up so late to catch the game, but it was well worth it. We pummeled the defending national champs.and our freshman pitcher kept them totally off balance for 5 1/3 innings. Nice.

Pummeled is a good word. O like the word "brutalize".Actually, back in Melville, La., on the banks of the beautiful Atchafalaya River we use to say."We beat em so bad they didnt know whether to ____ or go naked. Dont know what that means Red.it does seem apropos for the moment.

Wow. I had KPEL online playing at 9:30, didn't hear the game. Was it delayed?

  6. UL Softball Re: UL Crushes Defending Champs, No 5. Arizona State 9-2

Delay due to other games, about an hour. You think KPEL could put up a couple of updates. Then there were several voids in the on line broadcast that included a home run. Still I love being able to keep up live with UL teams.

I'm just glad KPEL has seen fit to put every UL game on the air. I overlooked a couple of minor clitches. Thanks, KPEL.Stevie P.and their sponsors.

No kidding. I wonder how many schools around the country have every softball game on the radio? I'll beat money that Gonegolfin could count them all without having to take his shoes off.

Caporuscio hit a no out, two-run HR in the bottom of the 8th to give Arizona State an extra inning 4-2 win over Arizona in Tempe. Escobedo pitched a complete game for the win. Kenzie Fowler took the loss in relief.

In another game that helps the Cajuns, Kentucky beat Auburn 8-4 in eight innings. Unfortunately, Mississippi State lost to Tennessee and Northwestern blew a late lead to Nebraska, losing 9-6 when the Wildcats yielded five runs in the bottom of the 7th.

Meanwhile, Cal crushed Stanford in Palo Alto 9-0.

    Alabama edged DePaul 4-3.

    Brian,

I saw a number of teams have helped us out this weekend.

    Kentucky beat Auburn again
Hofstra swept a doubleheader with Georgia State
Boston swept a doubleheader with Binghampton
Tulsa swept a doubleheader Southern Miss
Houston swept a doubleheader with Memphis
    Arizona State beat Arizona again
Louisiana Tech swept a doubleheader with Utah State

and while a few other opponents split I'm guessing our OWP went up

I don't think Stanford is top 10 material, I think Cal is proving that

Yes . there were a few others that hurt us (Ex. Northwestern), but overall we are seeing improvement here. This is as I expected since teams like Hofstra, Boston, Winthrop, and some others will be getting into the weaker part of their schedule.
