No matter how it should've been promoted there would've been just as many people there. No one has supported this team through the whole year and they weren't going to start last night
Student section was packed just saying.
I understand your concern but I think your wrong for calling out the Dean of Students and that office. They are a great group and to worry about getting students to a basketball game shouldn't be their problem. Instead, it should have been groups like UPC trying to push the issue. However, I am not surprised since it seems like UPC has really separated themselves from athletics lately. Honestly, I am not really here to bash certain groups. I think that no matter what was done, there was no big following from the start. Like someone mentioned earlier, it wasn't going to happen over night.
The last AD allowed/created the 7 year void.
In collegiate sports the on campus fan base rolls over every 5 years.
Athletic Directors cannot allow a hippocampus gap in showing the fans you demand a winner.
A whole generation of fans were taught that basketball doesn't matter. It will take a selling job to prove to them it does.
Fans are not stupid. Everyone knows Hud had something special brewing in football. We won 8 regular season games for the first time in 20 years and went to a bowl game for the first time in 40+ years. There is a lot to be excited about.
Basketball has very little to get excited about. Seven years of losing basketball, a .500 record in a poor conference, poor shooting, problems in recruiting and multiple suspensions is what the the storyline of this teams is. Many people associated with UL love Cajun basketball, but they have busy lives and know the product on the floor is lacking. Time for Marlin and his staff to start producing some better play with better players. That is what will bring the fans back.
