Yes, it's become obvious that Marlin has suffered from the rarely documented behavior pattern of recruiting incredible players, only to run them off for no apparent reason. I believe the psychiatric community describes this behavior as the cure for primadonnaosis.

You are right about Marlin. He is playing the wrong people and recruiting the wrong athletes. Shame on him for allowing these malcontents to make him look bad.
