A thing of beauty it wasn't. The University of Louisiana softball team committed five errors and had several other hiccups in Saturday's title game of the Sun Belt Conference Championships. The Cajuns also left 10 runners on base, and host Florida International rapped out nine hits. But the bottom line is all about winning, and that's what the UL team has now done seven straight times in Sun Belt tournament competition. Thanks to some key hitting by freshman catcher Jessica Lemoine and a solid relief pitching effort by Ashley Kirchberg, the Cajuns posted a 7-4 victory over the Golden Panthers at FIU's University Park to claim the conference title. That win continued a streak that dates back to 2000 when the Sun Belt added softball, and put UL at 22-0 in all-time league tournament games. "They found a way to win, and that's what this team has done all year," said UL coach Stefni Lotief. "Some things happened early and we had to put people in different positions, but the best thing is that we kept attacking." Lemoine, named the tournament's Outstanding Player, had three hits in the title game including a two-run single in the third inning that gave the 15th-ranked Cajuns (48-10) the lead for good.
