MIAMI – The field of possible teams that might meet the 15th-ranked Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns softball team in the 2006 Sun Belt Conference Tournament championship game has been narrowed down to two candidates.

Troy run-ruled North Texas 9-0 in five innings in Friday’s final game here at FIU’s University Park Softball Complex. The Trojans advance to Saturday’s loser’s bracket final against FIU.

Troy and FIU will meet at 12:30 p.m. (CDT) just hours before the winner is scheduled to meet UL (47-10) in the championship game at 3 p.m. (CDT).

The Ragin’ Cajuns defeated FIU 6-2 in the winner’s bracket final on Friday to put UL in the driver’s seat.

UL would have to be defeated twice by the FIU-Troy winner to be denied a seventh straight SBC Tournament title.
