The title of this thread keeps making me wonder why resign (to quit a job) and resign (sign again) are the same word. If Errol Rogers was to resign (sign again), that might instill panic among the fan base.
Uh Hello,
None of us really have any influence in this process anyway, but I am sure Scott will do whatever is best for the program.
Coach Errol Rogers never beat Broadhead at any level. Gary would surely be a step up for the Cajuns.
It's a nationwide search, folks.
Not saying the hire won't be relatively local, but this search goes past Lake Charles.
And, keep this in mind. We have sixteen sports at UL and only two female coaches.
Scott will hire the best candidate. But if it's close, a woman gets the job over a man this time.
I heard the same Jay... A national search and spending that money on CARR is what I dont understand though. The best person for the JOB lives here... Has helped McNeese to two CONF Titles and Two trips to NCAA tourney, with the kids he brought in. And this year he has three of the top 5 players from LA signed with McNeese... What determines if it is close ? and does it matter how many women we have as coaches, to me its like oh if its close lets hire a woman cause we dont have enough women on staff, thats not hiring the best candidate... I cant stand the women excuse or the black excuse... Just hire the best person...
I don't understand why so many people are having a hard getting why following a structured, successful process is the way to go. Well, maybe I can understand why you don't want to go that route, Brad, since you have a family connection. Nothing against Brodhead, and if he is the name that rises to the top, I have no problem with that. I just have a hard time with the "hire the local guy because he's local" concept. Does that give him some strong ties? I'm sure it does. But I don't think it HAS to be a local guy. I don't think it is a waste of money to look and see who the BEST available candidates are. Again, if that turns out to be Brodhead, great! We've too often in the past gone down that road you're suggesting and more often than not, it hasn't worked out. I think a structured process takes out a lot of the emotional biases and generally leads to a better hire. Is it perfect? Of course not. But, in my opinion, it has a much higher chance of success.
