Don't let the performance from the last of the two games you saw fool you.
You know what this tells me? It screams they were one & done. For the second year in a row To a tteam which didn't win the tourney. And this is supposed to impress me how?

The Marlin supporters on the team should have rallied to his cause. Are they good enough to win even this conference as down as it is at the present time? Will Marlin get guys he can work with & have consistency? Will his program suffer another midseason or late season melt down?

No one knows these things except one guy. And he ain't tellin. So quit acting like anyone who has legitimate questione about the future of the program is just a disloyal hack. You may be right & you may end up regretting you ever went out of your way to attack other people In defense of this guy.

While I do disagree with BWK about Elfrid Peyton and a lot of other stuff. I agree with him that it is fair to question where the program is.

I still believe that Marlin will get it done, but I don't know for certain. We haven't won a Sunbelt tourney game in 6 years. It's fair to ask some questions.

I also agree that until we start reeling off wins, crowds won't come to the dome. People in Lafayette expect a high level of basketball. Rightly or wrongly, I believe most people in Lafayette supported basketball far more than football.

We have to get better quickly. I believe Marlin is a good X & O's coach. However, the best play in the world drawn for a guy who can't shoot will lose to a terrible play drawn up for Michael Jordan.

You aren't getting it. Of the 10 games in the conference tournament this year, only 2 were won by double digits with the largest margin being 15 points. The average margin of victory was just shy of 6 points. The only conference losses the Cajuns suffered by a wide margin were a 25 point loss to Denver and the loss to ULM. But then they also stomped the eventual western division winner by 19 at their place. You have to smoking something if you think this team didn't have a chance in the tourny, especially with the propensity the tourny has for producing low-seeded winners.
BTW, the Cajuns have been one and done for 6 years in a row, but the last 2 under Marlin have been losses by 5 points and 4 points. Tournaments are funny things. I don't think many were expecting Middle to be one and done.

YOU don't get it, CajunFan. Bandwagon prince is so much smarter and more knowledgeable than us that...heck...he doesn't even need to go to games and can STILL provide THE definitive evaluation of the status of our program. Matter of fact, he wasted time going to two whole games. Probably had enough to make a judgement after that first one.

You're right. How stupid and idiotic of me.

I tell you guys what worries me---FIU, WKU, and ASU have had great recruiting the last 2 years in football---Not quite sure about the rest of the league---In B-ball WKU and NYU have had great years and not sure about the rest----But if we are gong to win we absolutely need to pick up our recruiting efforts--I think that it has been posted about our terrible shooting and we NEED some guys to fill it up ----NOW!!!!!

I guess if one translates your garbage response, it could be assumed that you are saying that those who only have an opportunity to attend X number of games should ever be able to express an opinion even in regards as to why more prople haven't attended games? How much hippy lettuce must one smoke to come to the brilliant conclusions which you & CF 3406 seem to arrive at on a regular basis?

When you base a majority of your opinions off of a loss to ULM which I've previously said was an aberration, then yes you may need to attend more than 2 games before you expect people to listen to said opinions with any sort of merit.

I want to know why the UL softball games are not sold out! These girls can play and trust me if you have never been to a UL softball game you are missing out on some excellent offense and defense!

    19 - 0 baby

Oh about the topic at hand... winning creates buzz in this town. Simple as that. I wondered where everyone was when I was out at Cajun Field in the rain under the Bustle years. I could have a whole section to myself. Winning cures.

Icegators used to sell out the dome when they won.
UL Basketball had 8,000 to end the season last year when they won.

I love all the new Saints fans I have met over the last couple of years.

Basketball is inconsistent. You have to create a product in which fans want to be a part of it. Winning is a brand. Losing isn't. When I say winning you need to win with the occasional loss, but always be at the top of the conference. That's the expectation across the country. I'm sure there are message boards all over the country asking the same attendance questions over and over.

Great points 06'. I feel worse about not catching more of the ladies' softball events than I do anything else in this town. I have enjoyed listening to their games on the radio & can say without a doubt, it's the best radio Stevie P. does by far any more. I'm thinking it's the women making his calls sound so good.
