University of Louisiana women's basketball coach J. Kelley Hall has added another standout post player and balanced out his recruiting class at the same time.
Kina Miller, a 6-foot-2 post from Cloud County (Kan.) Community College, signed with the Ragin' Cajun program Thursday, becoming the fourth member of a UL recruiting class that includes two junior college signees and two prep recruits.
Miller, though, may be the most intimidating of the signees, having set every blocked shot record for a game, season and career at Cloud County.
"She's the best shot blocker we've ever had here," said CCCC coach Brett Erkenbrack. "She's long-armed, long-legged and athletic."
Miller, who averaged 13.9 points and 7.3 rebounds along with recording 89 blocks last winter, is the first signee in the spring recruiting period for the Cajuns and the second overall junior college signee. LaCourtney Ratliff of Trinity Valley (Texas) Community College and prep signees Shamere Shephard of Minden High and Valanette Amie of East Central High in Tulsa, Okla., signed during the early period in November.
"I feel really good about signing a post player of that quality, one that can step in and be a shot blocker," said Hall. "She's an enforcer with good size."
