The University of Louisiana softball team added its sixth recruit of the year Wednesday with the signing of catcher Lana Bowers of Crosby, Texas.
The 5-foot-10 Bowers is a four-year letterman at Hargrave High in nearby Huffman, Texas, and has also been a part of one of the Houston area's most successful summer teams.
"She plays the game extremely hard," said UL coach Stefni Lotief. "She's been the cornerstone catcher for one of the most successful summer ball programs in Texas, and has played against the best competition in the country and found ways to win."
Bowers earned All-District 23-3A honors as a junior and sophomore and currently leads that league in hitting and extra base hits. She had a .523 regular-season batting average with six doubles, six triples, two homers and 18 RBI.
