I think you're confused. I'm the one mustering up the support for the girls. I've been to many games this year. - JW
Cajun softball has been a national powerhouse for a long time but this team is really special. We are happy that jwallace and family are a big part of whats in store for the rest of the year and three more after that. Welcome to cajun country. Lets create some unforgetable memories.
Thank you very much! It is the culmination of a lifetime of hard work. All of our ladies are special on this team. I hope that more folks in the community will come out and support them in the coming weeks. With a lifetime of commitment as a family to the sport, we have dreamt of making it to Oklahoma City to the College World Series for many years now. After last night, that doesn't seem far fetched now!!! We have had a motto all these years, "Don't Be Afraid to be Amazing!" Last night, the Lady Cajuns were amazing!!!
I'm raising my glass to you sir!!!
I fell in love with the program the first time I watched them play at home. Sad to say but as an undergraduate student in the early to mid-nineties I never once watched them play. Oh sure, I read the highlights of Kyla Hall dominate opponents in the Vermilion but that wasn't enough to get me to watch them when they played home games. 10 or so years ago I finally saw the light. It became apparent that I was missing out on the best program my alma mater has to offer. The ladies playing softball for UL represent some of the brightest and best athletes we have. I'm still far from retirement but the wife and I made one thing clear- once retirement beckons, we plan on making not only all the home games but most travel games as well. For now, we make it to 95% of home games and bring our young kids out to Lamson whenever possible. Just can't say enough how proud I am of our softball team. Results speak for themselves, but whatever the outcome, you never, ever question the effort they bring to the ballpark every game.
Why doesn't the Water Skiing team have a better fanbase? They are a nationally ranked team every year. Softball just isn't as popular of a sport as baseball, basketball and football. So of course there would be less fan support. With that said, I'm very proud of this team and what they're doing. I just don't get how people are so baffled that there isn't much fan support for softball.
Comment, If all of our programs were half as sucessful as softball, we would have gotten a call from the Big 12 long ago. The softball program does enjoy pretty good support and it is fun to go to Lampson Park.
The logistics of watching water skiiing for one thing are quite prohibitive. Build a facilty on a narrow stretch of water equivalent to Lamson Park (with better parking I hope!!!) and you might draw a crowd. The softball program has an excellent following. I would venture to say getting a seat at Lamson Park is going to get more difficult after our Lady Cajuns return home from California. We just beat the defending national champion 5th ranked Arizona State Sun Devils and are on our way to sweeping the Judi Garmin Classic Tournament. Besides I'll take a quality fan base over quantity any day. We have some very knowledgable fans that know the game, know when the girls need a little extra push and donate a lot of their time and money to the program. I've been to a lot of college ballparks and we have the best fans anywhere. It was a very big reason my daughter came to play for ULL. I will bet that we host regionals and possibly the super regionals. Tickets will be at a premium my brother. We win the College World Series and next season it will be a top ticket in town.
