BBOYD- I am Raymone's Mom and if and when I say something about this you will be the first to know!

So Ms. Raymone's Mom, I know you can't speak for JJ (but you may know), is it true that Raymone and JJ planned on asking for their releases and leaving the program at the end of the season?

If so, while it is not good for our program, in the grand scheme of things, this suspension really means nothing. It's just basically expediting the inevitable. I hope both players can find a place to finish out their eligibility where they will be more satisfied.

Also, if they were leaving, is the main issue some sort of personality conflict with Coach Marlin? Unhappiness with playing time? Dorm rooms too small? Too many potholes in the roads in the greater Lafayette metropolitan area? Is it even basketball related?

Sorry if the reference to the “Fear the Beard” promotion offended you. I found it ironic that the evening that was promoted as senior night and a night to honor a former player seemingly turned into a night of self promotion. Hopefully these two young men will go on to do great things and if they are in some way honored for their contributions I hope all those involved are dutifully respectful

Some of u guys post really get me sometime because imo, u really don’t know the game of basketball, idk where to start, lets go with payton, to say he is not a point guard is pure ignorance, someone brought up rondo in an early post and they were correct, stop watching nba scoring point gaurds like, westbrook, derrick rose, d Williams etc and expect every pg to be like that, those guys are really sg who can handle the rock. Payton turnovers has nothing to do with his lack of ball handling, its more about his decision making which will come in time, he just turned 18. As far as jj is concerned, if you notice, it seems like his baskets are tuff to go by this year. Its really simple, jj is the perfect case of a strong undersized post player, think about who he had on the court with him last year, daigle, bureau, gary, and brown, when jj was on the court with these guys, he got a lot of easy buckets because you couldn’t leave the other players to double team jj, so he was always 1 on 1, now with a lack of perimeter shooting, teams can now collapse on jj and make his shot tough,I hate that this suspension has happen, neither side wins, but as someone who knows more about this situation than 99 percent of u on this board, please reframe from jumping to conclusions either way. I like marlin, mone and jj, all I can say is I wish they could’ve have seen eye to eye, if anybody have anything they want to say or ask me, feel free, I will respond but as someone who has recently been apart of this staff, I will not say anything to discredit this program

The only people I keep hearing defending Marlin, are the same ones defending the play of Payton, yet they acknowledge that payton is EXTREMELY fundamentally unsound. But it is OK in his situation to be very fundamentally unsound because he is young & the coach's favorite player. So let's say some of the older guys see these weaknesses & say, " Hey coach do you think Elfrid should be getting so much playing time considering he is out of control?" Is this a problem for Marlin that he can't handle sound fundamental adivce form the older players on his own team? Because if it is, the folks on here that seem to be backing him on the basis of you always back the coach no matter what, are about to be severely disappointed. The fundamental problem as I see it with this team right now, is that you have a coach who may not be making the correct effort to understand his own players. Or the players see him picking favorites which he guaranteed he wouldn't do. Either way you have the coach lying to the players & the players expected to go along with whatever he says.If he isn't listening to those players, then HE shouldn't have recruited them. If this is the situation, then this problem will continue to reoccur with the obvious end result down the road.

I have been hearing rumors for 4-6 wks about Raymone wanting to transfer to Southern. It was also noted during this time the issues with Pancake.

Bwk, Well put Sir, i Do like Payton and think he will come along, but it all honesty, u do bring up valid points, me being really stuck in the middle, i refuse to point fingers, should marlin have suspended them*?? Idk ....could all this have been avoided??? Yes .. sometimes being able to sit and come to a agreement really does help out, but it just hit the fan now
