Bob Marlin is the men's basketball coach at our university. He has to make decisions that he thinks are for the betterment of the program. Not all decisions will be popular, and not all will be correct, but to even think he is making decisions "for no reason at all" is ridiculous. The man's livelihood rests on these decisions. Unless he has completely gone insane, and all of a sudden just "winging it" through life, there has to be some justification for the choices he makes. Bob Marlin was hired to be the Head Coach here, and with that title, make these kind of decisions...decisions that not only affect his program, but affect his family. He was hired to do the job, so let him do the job. If he's unsuccessful, find somebody else, but to read some of the things being said here because he suspended a couple players is just mind boggling.

Really is any body surprised by the actions te bob marlin has done. In his first year he kicked two seniors of a team that he just got.those two guys by the name of colby batiste and courtney wallace for no reason at all..batiste was affected heavily by it and had his scolarship taking away oncehe graduated notto mention that he played a half a season with a torn meniscus and needed surgery and the school tried to get out of it by not paying for his medical needsand. Fortunatly he got a lawyer and toke care of things.he then went on to get rid of javan mitchell for no aparent reason what so ever.b bob marlin along with more members of the athletic department are really going aginst the way you treat people and something needs to be done.his job is to be a coach sometimes your going to have kids that are not traditional hoosier type ball players the great coaches learn how to deal wth those things and make the best team with those players. In all actuality that's what wins championships...let's be honest we were expecting a roy williams and got well...bob marlin a former graduate asst/waterboy that gota job at a converted division 2 school that got beat by robert lee many of times so it ain't like he just is the solution..he ain't no mark hudspeth no way lol...better yet he is no coach you guys he has a great recuiter that wil pay anything for a recruit has a great defnsive corrdinater in kevin johnson and the man who really runs it is james hardin so...marlin half of the time is not even focused for the game his staff is the man piece...most of the time this guy is late on road trips because of his rockstar girlfriend that he chased in his first season....so all in all he is who we thought he was

Maybe he got rid of Batitste, Wallace and Mitchell because they were, ummmm, what's the word??? Horrible maybe??

So Bob Marlin has gone to two NCAA tourneys, recruited people who got to the pros, took Sam Houston from nothing to the best Southland team over a decade, and I mean nothing. Has no history of trashing and canning people like John Brady.

Can he recruit? Case has not yet even gone to the jury.

First year coaches usually come in the spring, you cannot judge the first year, but JJ seems to be a player when healthy and in the right frame of mind.

Second year: Payton is a good find, a very good find. Big number 20 is a good find, who played well in several games, needs to develop stamina. The transfer for Mississippi State, Long. When he was being recruited for this years class almost everyone on this board was dissappointed he went to Mississippi State. Now he is a Cajun, but gets dissed because he did not fit in at Mississippi State, still a great prospect.

Number 23 is a solid player, 21 a good solid player.

Yea Marlin may have struck out with Pancake, but whose fault is that. A good prospect gets bad advise from people he trusts.

It is way too early to start demanding change. Duke coach said he was very fortunate he had a administration who believed in him after his second year because he was not getting it done. Not saying Marlin is Coach K, but I am saying Coach K needed more than two years to get Duke going right. A lesser coach may need a little more time to right a ship that was in much more trouble at its' level that Duke was at its' level back then.

And the year we beat Sam Houston our team shot ... well like ULM did against us. Sometimes anybody can throw it in the ocean. We never shot like that again that year not did ULM this year.

Apparently coach pulled your scholly before you got to the classes in Griffin Hall. I'd be perturbed too.

I've never been a coach, but if I had to guess, I'd imagine that Bob Marlin would have to notify Scott Farmer of his decision to suspend Thomas and Andrews. I only say this because I can't imagine that Bob Marlin just went straight to the SID, no one else, and released this statement. One would assume he had to give an explanation to someone before this went public.

I could be completely wrong, but I doubt it.

This thread shows Bob Marlin has a chemistry and communication problem on this team. As of now we now we have 4 disgruntled players, several disgruntled ex-players, one disgruntled future player and some very upset friends/family members who are itching to trash this coach on message boards. I don't know what is going on here, but in my time on earth I have found that both sides are to blame when a situation gets out of control like this one. IMHO, the next few months will be critical for Bob Marlin and his staff. He has got to get control of this team and get them pulling in the same direction. If this means releasing a few players, then so be it. But lets remember this is exactly how the Robert Lee era unraveled. Marlin is going to have to make some tough choices over the next few months, if he makes the wrong ones he will probably not be here for very long.
