Thread: Bill Bentley

I am not sure why Bentley gets knocked for his size. His stature seems about average for an NFL corner. I think he will be a good pro and definitely warrants a 2nd or 3rd round choice.

A lot of what he gets knocked for are small hands, short arms, slightly short, a little lean. He gets knocked at times because he played less press coverage and more zone. Also, because he's more of a chop down tackler than a wrap up guy.

But really, a lot of guys fall into those categories. The ones that dont are going 1st round.

Mayock mentioned today he could step into a nickle role today and be fine, that's how good his instincts and skills are.

Don't think he's being knocked for his size. The size comments came into play when it was suggested that maybe he could move to a safety position. Safeties are typically taller and larger (like 6' 0" to 6' 4" and over 215-220 lbs.) and usually are hammers when it comes to tackling. Bill is an OK height, but needs to add a few pounds to be a typical NFL corner. But he is not out of the normal range.

Bandwagon was so confident in this team and his individual predictions that he booked a vacation the same date of the New Orleans Bowl. Sad.

FYI, that trip was booked before HUD was even hired. It was booked before Bustle was even fired. I don't even know if the New Orleans Bowl comittee knew which day they were going to have that game when I booked the trip. Are you happy now? You got me all broke up inside.

I found this very interesting as well since they referred to Claiborne as a big, strong and physical corner who is one inch taller than Bentley and 6 pounds heavier which is not significant.

I agree though, Bentley's knock has everything to do with schemes we ran here versus his physical abilities. Most of the pundits have mentioned that he's not a great cover corner which I thought was interesting as I thought he was a very good cover corner but they want to see him play more man over his career to judge and we just didn't run a lot of man here.
