He'll be a good reflection of the university.
It's not the first time Bentley had heard that. Overlooked out of high school, he settled for the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns. So add "small-school competition" to the list of reasons we thought the pick was a bit crazy. All that does is fuel his ...
Outstanding article. This is exactly the same type of character I saw in Bentley last season when I boldly predicted he would be on an NFL roster playing week in & week out when he finished his career at UL. I believe I made that prediction after exactly one session of spring practice. PRACTICE? It's just practice, right? I mean PRACTICE? SPRING PRACTICE at that? I enjoyed being lambasted for that little prognostication which in hindsight turned out to be about 100% correct. I just LOVE making those outrageously wild predictions that just happen to turn out exactly right. Based on that little projection I see this Year's UL squad winning at least ten games & being one of the highest scoring most prolific offenses in the country. Does anyone care to step up & deny. Please use all the sound reasoning necessary. No worries. It's all in fun.
My only concern about our offense is will we be able to run the ball more effectively. I know Blaine ran well last year but I would like to see more production from the running back stable. Despite the loss of experience, I actually believe the defense will be better than a year ago. Logic there is Coach Hud said at the SBC media day that our defense will have more talent overall than a year ago. It is up to the coaches to get that talent to play effectively quickly.
A big part of why the running game never took off is because of our lack of depth on the offensive line. We've really strengthened ourselves up front, so I expect the running game to be quite dangerous this year...oh, and Alonzo Harris put another 20 pounds on himself.
It aggravated me watching the Ok St game at home in 2010 when they kept having Orkeyes Aurienne(SP) cover Blackmon when Bentley would lock him down every time he covered him(Which was only 3 or 4 times)
"That night"? Blackmon is always a beast. I remember Auriene covering him very well, but Justin is just too big and physical. He caught one jump ball in the endzone in double/triple coverage (with Bentley). Of course, he shoved off with no call. But, nonetheless, that dude is a beast of a WR.
