Its last outing in non-conference play for the season will be a lot like the first for University of Louisiana softball coach Stefni Lotief.

She'll still be looking for improvement from her 13th-ranked squad when the Ragin' Cajuns travel to Thibodaux today for a 4 p.m. doubleheader against Nicholls State at Colonel Diamond.

"We're going to keep working on things that we're trying to get better at," Lotief said. "We need to stay focused and add to the success we had last weekend."

The Cajuns (39-8) moved into first place in the Sun Belt Conference with a weekend sweep of North Texas, including a 21-run explosion in Sunday's 21-9 series finale win.

"All the girls did a good job of knowing what they wanted to accomplish in every at-bat," Lotief said, "and we just need to keep pushing that and keep getting quality at-bats."

After today's twinbill, UL's only remaining regular-season games are Sun Belt series against Western Kentucky at home and at Middle Tennessee. Wins in five of those six games would insure UL of a sixth straight Sun Belt regular-season title.
