UL Softball Troy baseball Series Game : Let's fill up stadium

Let's get this going. We need to fill up Moore Field for the Troy Series. Welcome Troy into the Sunbelt Conference's best FANS and let them know of our Pride for OUR BASEBALL TEAM.

Let's have no less than 3000 fans per game. TAILGATE, Let the players know how proud we are especially as of late. They have really started to gel and it makes my heart good to see them play as we knew they were capable of.

Regardless, Baseball and Softball are this University's athletic pride and joy with all other sports catching up.

LET'S FILL UP MOORE FIELD ON MAY 5th, 6th, and 7th.

    GEAUX CAJUNS.

I agree let's fill the stadium up. But we need to do a better job adjusting to the additional fans. For "brokeback of refineryville-west" last week we had 3000 and there were terrible lines for beer as only one truck was operating and little to no fresh roasted peanuts. The experience needs to be a rewarding one for the casual fan. They need to think about the game, not the long lines for the refreshments. We need to entice them to return game after game.

That is all good but, we need to win at UALR which is a depressing place to play a ball game.

Funny, but I had a great experience, plenty of hot peanuts, large cold Bud, there is always only one beer stand operating. One more thing there was nowhere near 3k at that game. Maybe you had a couple too many.

Official attendance at McNeese game (Attendance: 2242)

If we can't believe you on attendance why should we believe you on other complaints.

I agree we fans could do a better job of attending, but the people servicing us will only be what the normal attendance is. Until we actually get close to 3k on a normal basis we will get concession workers for twenty two hundred fans.

Sid they did it for McNeese, and I think will do so later in the season, but I don't believe Robe plans on giving away the profit for the Troy series.

I think they have used up all the redeem day games for this year. You can call 482-6093 to baseball and ask but I am sure you won't be able since it is a conference series.

You're right, I didn't check the official attend.; I was guessing using the number of fans normally at the game. we do average over 2000, but let's face it we rarely have that many there, in fact a great number of fans punch more than one ticket to pump up attend., including myself, point is we did not service our fans well that night and we had greater than normal attend. The casual fan has to want to come back ...

and, it was not a complaint, I rarely miss a game and enjoy everyone of them; it was just a general observation about the lines for beer concessions and the fresh roasted peanut vendor.

I hope we 3000 everygame; and I'll be one of them.

The final redemption night is another midweek game, I think against SLU or NWLA.

    but certainly not for Troy

I am pretty sure we want fairly long lines at the beer concession. The staff wants beer to be an added value. Short lines will create opportunities for drunks. As for the peanuts, I dunno, I always have very little problems getting those. They could make a lot more money with drink, and other conessions with vendors in the stands, but I think due to our snug configuration they might view that as a distraction. Cotton canday and Diamond Darlings are the only ones in the stands.

    Ok, square one

It really is about the entertainment, not the game.

UL competes with more and more things in this community everyday. Our fans have to chose between UL baseball, movies, festivals, eating out, whatever may interest a consumer. Now, for me and other diehard fans, the games and UL are what matter.

But, for the casual fan, who wants to be chose the "game" and spend an inning in the concessions line? That person does not care that we usually have enough persons serving. They only know they lost an inning, missed the home run, didn't see the error.

Who wants regular peanuts bagged in North Carolina when fresh roasted are USUALLY available when our normal crowd is in attend.

The point is, when we do get larger than normal crowds, ie McNeese, Troy, we cannot treat them like Nichols St. UL has traditionally done a less than stellar job with marketing. We must share parking for instance with the RV show, the Mardi Gras fair, the car show, etc.

UL has had and will continue to have to opportunity to have good crowds and community support, but we must, as a university, take advantage of the opportunities to build our fan base. The fan base is the key to our success and our gains in athletics.

And, as much as I hate to use him or them as an example. I will.

Jim Wells in an interview years ago when talking about Skip Bertman, indicated when he first was around LSU, Skip told him to go to the concession stand and check the temperature of the cheese (long before the crowds of today-they were a doormat) and he didn't understand why?He was told in a nutshell: when people come here they are paying for entertainment, we want the entire experience to be positive, and that includes having the cheese for the nachos hot.

    UL gods forgive me.
