and, it was not a complaint, I rarely miss a game and enjoy everyone of them; it was just a general observation about the lines for beer concessions and the fresh roasted peanut vendor.

I hope we 3000 everygame; and I'll be one of them.
I am pretty sure we want fairly long lines at the beer concession. The staff wants beer to be an added value. Short lines will create opportunities for drunks. As for the peanuts, I dunno, I always have very little problems getting those. They could make a lot more money with drink, and other conessions with vendors in the stands, but I think due to our snug configuration they might view that as a distraction. Cotton canday and Diamond Darlings are the only ones in the stands.

    Ok, square one

It really is about the entertainment, not the game.

UL competes with more and more things in this community everyday. Our fans have to chose between UL baseball, movies, festivals, eating out, whatever may interest a consumer. Now, for me and other diehard fans, the games and UL are what matter.

But, for the casual fan, who wants to be chose the "game" and spend an inning in the concessions line? That person does not care that we usually have enough persons serving. They only know they lost an inning, missed the home run, didn't see the error.

Who wants regular peanuts bagged in North Carolina when fresh roasted are USUALLY available when our normal crowd is in attend.

The point is, when we do get larger than normal crowds, ie McNeese, Troy, we cannot treat them like Nichols St. UL has traditionally done a less than stellar job with marketing. We must share parking for instance with the RV show, the Mardi Gras fair, the car show, etc.

UL has had and will continue to have to opportunity to have good crowds and community support, but we must, as a university, take advantage of the opportunities to build our fan base. The fan base is the key to our success and our gains in athletics.

And, as much as I hate to use him or them as an example. I will.

Jim Wells in an interview years ago when talking about Skip Bertman, indicated when he first was around LSU, Skip told him to go to the concession stand and check the temperature of the cheese (long before the crowds of today-they were a doormat) and he didn't understand why?He was told in a nutshell: when people come here they are paying for entertainment, we want the entire experience to be positive, and that includes having the cheese for the nachos hot.

    UL gods forgive me.

3000 people should not be the goal 3750 should we need 3 sellouts to get behind these guys...I challenge everyone to try to bring one extra person and there is no reason to not sell out...
