JJ didn't even have his uniform on when he checked in during the first half. A trainer had to get a shirt for him in the locker room. This team was not ready to play. Don't want to come off as too negative, but this team has major talent issues. It is very hard to feel good about the direction of this program.
We looked god awful. That being said anybody have a recording of the ally to josh brown?
I figured it wasn't going to go well when I saw how loose they were during the pre-game warm ups. And you got to give the ULM kids some credit as they were able to put down some really tough shots in the second half, esp. some of the three-pt shots they hit.
As for the program... got to remember that we're only two years into a multi-year rebuilding of the program. This group had some serious injury, talent and chemistry problems all season but still ended up in the top tier in the conference. That's a sign that the coaches might have a clue. Plus there is the bunch of potential with the redshirts and transfers we have riding the pine this season. I'm willing to wait until the end of next season before I make any sort of judgement call about this coaching staff and direction of the program.
BB...I don't know if I'm as optimistic as you are about 3 and in...but its nice to see your support for this team and the program. On some of the shots that fell for ULM last night, I'm not sure they were even looking. It was just one of those games. And I think we all knew we had a deficiency as far as shooting. Last night the two combined to give us what we saw in the Dome. We couldn't hit enough from the outside and at the same time struggled to make lay-ups and 6 inch put backs.
With what we have returning and what we know is coming in, I'm optimistic about where we're headed. And, yep, I'll have my season tickets in hand and butts in the seats come next year.
What sucks is that we have to play UNT! Good luck beating any team 3 times in one year.
I am also willing to wait another year before hitting the panic button. I just do not know where points are going to come from next year. No one on the team can consistently knock down an open shot. From the looks of our recruiting class and transfers, none of them are known as good shooters. I like the movement our team has in its offensive sets, but when we do create, the good shot it is rarely made.
It would be nice to make a run in the SBC tournament, but I think our inconsistencies will prevent us from winning more than one game. Hope I am wrong.
Of course you know that winning three in a row is not rare, after you won two in a row. The team with two wins usually beats the other team on the thrid try. Now if you think we pulled an upset twice, and I think we did, then it will be very difficult to pull three upsets.
I understand what everyone is saying about lack of talent and a true scorer. That being said I did not see one game all year where the Cajuns were beaten because the other team had a great deal more talent than the Cajuns.
In my opinion there are major attitude problems on this team. JJ being the most obvious but I think it is contageous. This team never came together all season and have actually took a few steps backwards since the middle of the season. Very disappointing.
My lil brother has given a soft Verble to the cajuns to play Football/Basketball, he is a great shooter, works well in the post, and is deadly from the FT Line, he is only 11 though, class of 2018 lol
