Isn't that what was said after the prior debacle vs Denver? That's two beat downs in our last three games. Not good to end the season and going into post season. Looks like the rest and time to go back to work on fundamentals didn't help much. This is a Jeckel & Hyde team. Great defense one game and no defense the next, not to mention dismal free throw shooting.. And, on Senior night and when we retire only the 4th uniform in UL basketball history. Disappointing to say the least.

There was no leadership from anyone on the team last night. We don't have anyone on this team that will verbally challenge the players to play better and with more intensity. I didn't see any burning desire to win. JJ's playing like Milsap played his last year here.

Even my girlfriend noticed how lackadaisical JJ's play was in the short time he was on the court. I think Marlin is a great coach, and can get us back on track. I think the problem is what you pointed out: lack of leadership. No La'Ryan.

Robe mentioned having the same problem with some of his past teams who underachieved. No one was willing to step up and be the verbal leader.

Based on everything I've seen and heard, McClellan is doing all he can to be a leader. But sometimes you need guys willing to follow and accept their roles.

Totally agree with the Milsap comment. Felt something was amiss for the Denver game other than just being outplayed.

As for the program... got to remember that we're only two years into a multi-year rebuilding of the program. This group had some serious injury, talent and chemistry problems all season but still ended up in the top tier in the conference. That's a sign that the coaches might have a clue. Plus there is the bunch of potential with the redshirts and transfers we have riding the pine this season. I'm willing to wait until the end of next season before I make any sort of judgement call about this coaching staff and direction of the program.

Besides Long, who else do we have coming in?

We also have the transfer from Tulane.

Guard Kevin Brown, a transfer from Tulane originally from Houston, will be eligible next season. Mississippi State transfer Shawn Long is also on campus and should be ready to play at some point next season. Steven Wronkoski, a 6-4 guard/forward from Hammond-St. Thomas Aquinas, has signed and will join the team. More news to come on the recruiting trail. CajunRedzone has a story on a JC guard/forward that has the Cajuns on his list of schools.

Sometimes I think coaches should make a visible statement to give some a reality check and a little embarassment. JJ should have been sent to the damn locker room when checking in. How on earth do you try and come into the game with no jersey on? Send him to the locker room to shower and get ready for sprints at the next practice. These are not kids, they are men who should act like it.

And how can we be that awful at the free throw line? Missing free throws is unacceptable in my opinion.
