The Ragin’ Cajuns softball team travels to Clearwater, Fla. as they prepare for the NFCA Leadoff Classic Feb. 24-26. Louisiana will play Mississippi State and Hofstra on Friday.

It's still very early in the season...but the Lead Off Classic is a VERY important tourney. One of our goals is to host a regional...and these games can help boost our RPI...IF we can pull off wins.

In regards to hosting, we don't have as much room for error as some programs because our conference RPI is not up to par with the big girls. This tourney can help make up some of that difference.

Its a little unfortunate the overall level of opponents at this tournament is a little down from the past times we've played it. Michigan will be the only top 25 team we face. The Judi Garman will be the serious test.

Still a very big challenge to go on the road for the first time, face better teams and come back still unscathed. Good luck Cajuns!

I noticed the same thing about the field...but even though only Michigan is ranked at the time we play them, others might bed ranked by year-end, which is when it counts...because that affects the final RPI and also affects how the site selection committee might view our body of work.
