Your welcome to gain access as well. There should be something in the local news sometime this week.

  2. UL Basketball Re: Elijah Millsap picks UAB

Elijah Millsap won't get a chance to play in a game on the same team with Robert Vaden. But Millsap, the most recent addition to the UAB basketball team, said the chance to practice against Vaden was a big factor in his decision to transfer from Louisiana-Lafayette.

"I have that year to work with Robert Vaden," Millsap said of the senior standout at UAB. "It will help me get better and I'll try to push him to help him get better."

The 6-foot-6, 215-pound Millsap officially became a Blazer on Wednesday when he signed scholarship papers. He will enroll in school in the fall and be eligible to play in the 2009-10 season.

Millsap said one reason he left UL-Lafayette was "a couple of issues" with his role under head coach Robert Lee.

I wonder what those issues could have been?

Milsap and Lee did not get along well, I don't know if it is because Lee would try to coach new tactics and Milsap felt he knew enough, or because of a smaller amount of playing time and Milsap being upset about it. I just know they had some arguments. Best of luck to Elijah wherever he chooses to go.

It is quite simple really-playing time. Elijah's minutes decreased with the emergence of Bureau and Gradnigo. When he did get in, he tried too hard to make something happen to regain his minutes. As a result, he had too many turnovers. When they say he can drive to the basket, that is somewhat misleading. On occasion he is successful with that but charges and turnovers often occur then. Elijah would have been more successful had he continued to pickup garbabe baskets and rebounds like he did in his freshman year. He may do OK at UAB if he overcomes his turnover tendency.

I hope Elijah has a career at UAB like, for example, Brian Hamilton had for us after he transferred from UTSA (except if we happen to be playing UAB)

If I am not mistaken Brian Hamilton attended Texas A&M Corpus Christi, not University of Texas San Antonio.

Was it "one reason" or "a couple of issues"? Something just does not "add up" here.
