Three players who brought varied talents to their Louisiana high school teams have signed national letters of intent with the University of Louisiana basketball program.

Northside point guard Randell Daigle, West St. John swingman Tyren Johnson and inside force Elijah Millsap of Grambling High inked with the Ragin' Cajuns during the first 36 hours of the NCAA's late signing period that began Wednesday morning.

The 5-foot-10 Daigle, who issued a verbal commitment to the Cajuns two weeks ago after leading the Vikings to the Class 4A state title, was confident that he would make the same impact at UL that he did in Northside's Top 28 victories in the Cajundome.

"I know that I'll be playing next year," Daigle said. "That's the biggest reason I wanted to sign here. They needed help at the point and I can bring that to them."

Cajun head coach Robert Lee is hoping that the 6-foot-6 Johnson and the 6-foot-5 Millsap can also provide instant help. UL lost three starting seniors off the 13-16 squad that won seven of its last eight regular-season games and reached the semifinals of the Sun Belt Tournament.

"The impressive thing about this group is these kids have tremendous talent and athleticism," said Lee, who will go into this third season as UL mentor. "They're going to be a great fit for our program."
