I think if a minor league team were to use the facility, it wouldn't have anything to do with the city. The university, and baseball in particular, would have to handle the approval and lease of the facility, with them being the recipient of any revenues generated. JMO

Well most of the time, these leases fall short of actually paying their way, and cities want them for whatever reason. That is why cities get involved, they upgrade facilities and then have a say in who plays in those facilities. I would hope we ignore that siren call ( http://thanasis.com/sirens.htm ) we don't need a shipwrecked ballpark.

_ Baseball while loved does not drive UL sports. Minor league teams are not a concern of UL. If Lafayette wants to use the Tigue to support a minor league team, let the city pay for the upgrades. I am in total agreement the Tigue needs a complete overhaul, and as a season ticket holder I along with others should expect to be responsible for a great deal of the costs. If we pay for the upgrades then any minor league team should not be in it. I well remember how the Cajun Dome was consumed by Ice Gator fans. _

Icegators were the best thing that ever happened to the Cajundome. Their early success paid for almost every facility improvement the building has ever had. Now, the Cajundome doesn't even have the money to repair a leaky roof.

Let's get to Omaha. That will take care of it.

1. This time we call ourselves what we want to... I suspect we may be the only Louisiana team representing.
2. One level of apparel will be focused on UL fans. "Louisiana Ragin Cajuns represent Louisiana in Omaha 2007". The second tier of mass apparel is targeted at the general public in Omaha that wants anything with "Ragin Cajuns", etc. on it.
3. If we take the whole enchilada, we won't know where to put all the dead presidents that come rolling in.
