Thread: Opponents View - Neutralizing a Star

  1. Default Opponents View - Neutralizing a Star

The Ragin’ Cajuns ran a second defender at Tony Mitchell every time he touched the ball. If UNT was going to knock off ULL in a key Sun Belt Conference showdown with tournament seeding implications, someone other than the Mean Green’s star forward was ...

I see where this supposed lottery pick got 7 points last night against the Cajuns. I guess beauty in warm-ups doesn't always translate to game time.

Tony...if you can't do better than that against college defenses, you'd better stay in school a bit longer.

Ahhh, Johnnie Jones pulling the old "give Lafayette credit" card... Louisiana is 3-1 against your over hyped ssss since Marlin got here.. We arent where we want to be yet, but we sure as heck are making positive strides.

    Geaux Cajuns!!

Dento did not look too hot either way you call it. No doubt Marlin needs to keep on improving the team, but with one game left in the regular season I am liking our hire.

By the way yesterday was not a boring brand of ball as I have accused them of in the past. Plenty of smart pressure on the point guards kept them out of rhythm, and Mitchell was not getting the ball early enough to cause us too many problems. Swarming defense is never boring.

If we can take care of the ball and be more consistent with our 3 point shooting, this team would be very dangerous.

The Coach for Monroe is a former Indian player who just hates UL---Hates UL--Nothing would make their season better than a road win over the Cajuns----Best we be ready!!!!!

ULM will be punished for setting foot in the Cajundome, Boomer.

Richard is a second rate coach at a third rate university.

Heck, I might even try and make the game Saturday night!!

Red, I give that kid a lot of credit. He did a really good job of finding someone up instead of forcing it when he was doubled. Most young superstars want to prove they can beat the double team. It took Shaq years to learn that 'if two people are on me, someone else MUST BE open.'. I will be glad to see Mitchell out of the league next year"

I should have been more clear. My comments were really not directed to Tony as they were to those who presented him as the next Doctor J.

He has the best stats of any freshman in the country. He is the only freshman in the nation to average a double-double. If it weren't for LaRon Dendy, he would be player of the year in the conference and could still be.

He won league player of the week 3 straight times. He kept his team in the league hunt after they lost two starting guards. He did dominate the league.

He has his two worst games of the season against the Cajuns, so if that's all you watched him play your opinion will be tainted. Also, he is 6'8". He leads the league in blocked shots and 3pt %.
