From an NBA.com Blog by Ben Couch

"Though he logged only eight points and four boards, Dwayne Mitchell came up with three steals, none more impressive than a fourth-quarter rip of O.J. Mayo, who was in the middle of his third crossover when Mitchell stripped him and raced downcourt for a crowd-pleasing jam."

I couldn't imagine pulling for the Lakers but i would have loved to have seen that.

The Lakers need somebody with decent size that plays with a defensive mindset and a little bit of an attitude. I hope Dwayne gets the chance to stick around. He deserved to be called up his first time through the D-League.

  3. UL Basketball DM catches Laker fans eye

3 players have caught my eye in the Summer league that I've seen.

the 3 paleyrs are: Nik Caner-Medley, Brian Roberts, Dwayne Mitchell.

Dwayne Mitchell is probably the best player on our Laker summer league team. He sticks to his man on defense like white on rice and on offense he has really nice handles and can pennetrate well along with a nice array of acrobatic moves to perform in the air to drain the layup. I can see him getting signed and see it as a likelihood that he will get signed.

UL Basketball Dwayne Mitchell embarrasses O.J. Mayo

LAS VEGAS – O.J. Mayo dribbled between his legs once, twice, and that’s all Dwayne Mitchell needed to see. Suddenly Mitchell was ripping the ball from Mayo’s hands, racing downcourt and punching in a thunderous dunk that brought the crowd at UNLV’s Cox Pavilion to its feet.

The Memphis Grizzlies’ much-celebrated rookie had just been embarrassed by a D-Leaguer. Admire your dribble too long, even in the NBA Summer League, and you likely won’t keep it. The turnover was one of six Mayo committed Sunday evening against the Los Angeles Lakers. Mayo also had a shot thrown back by Coby Karl, rarely an indicator of greatness, even if the building’s public-address announcer mistakenly hailed the Lakers’ guard as “Kobe Bryant.”

No need to apologize! Wow! Dwayne Mitchell is one stud player and it is amazing that Cajuns had OG and Mitchell on floor at same time, two guards that are both as good as you can get on defense, even by NBA standards. How did Cajuns not win even more then? The Louisville game was great, but it should not have come down to that - playing as low seed in first round.

The Cajuns had a pretty good year. They had one hiccup that year losing two on the road to the Arkansas schools, but those losses actually in reality probably got the focused on the tournament. Also, they played without Orien for 6-8 games because of a broken leg.

Well if O. Green wouldn't have driven the lane out of control 5 times and fouled out with about 10 minutes left in the game, I have no doubt we would have won that game.

I believe Louisville went to the Final Four that year.

Dude....don't even get me started on the Louisville game. I've said it once and I'll say it again that loss still burns in my stomach. This sounds bad but the officials blew that one, OG was in foul trouble at tip-off and the Cajuns still gave Louisville all they wanted. Four points........four points against an eventual Final Four team. UL was so cold that year, my god, I could still hear Jay saying "dunk you very much".

I will say this, as screwed as the Cajuns were in the seeding process Louisville was equally screwed. No way should Louisville had been a four seed..........at least I think thats right?
