Definitely a big step back.
Only year 2 of Marlin digging us out of a black hole that past coaching decisions put our bball program in.
There was no controversy the second time UL met Denver. After losing 72-71 in overtime when Elfrid Payton hit a free throw with 0.4 seconds left, the homestanding Pioneers left no doubt about it on the return trip. Denver scored the game's first ...
I woke up this morning after a very bad night. Couldn't sleep. Last night's game was ugly.
Let me say thins first I do not like the type of ball Marlin plays, and so far his players are average at best, but he is a heck of a coach. I could learn to respect the type ball he plays when we start winning, and I think it will happen. I like Marty Ball, and if ever Marty got taken to the wood shed his detrators would say no defense. I saw little if any defense or offense last night.
Marlin is not Coach K, and nobody is equating him with K except in this respect. Coach K has said his first two seasons at Duke were pretty awful and without the support of his administration and ad he never would have been kept around to acheive the success he has.
Marllin is a good coach, a solid coach and is having a bit of bad luck with some players. I am not ready to abandon him even though I don't like the style he plays, I will be in the stands.
Marlin has said from the start that his offense will match his personel.
Pure shooters are highly sought after and it will be tough winning those recruiting wars. It will be tough till UL starts winning.
anyone took denver -11?
Seems like a good bet in hindsight.
How bout we say it like this.. .UL could use a good 7' post player.. someone to average a double double nightly. If they get that... a pure shooter than can knock down 10 to 15 footers if open... hell maybe even throw in an above average three point thread and a PG that can dish out 15 assists a game... we'd be really good.
Thoughts?
So you're saying we need a better team right?
