PORT BARRE - Kelsi Andrus has a full academic scholarship to the University of Louisiana waiting for her upon graduation.
She also has a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average and will likely be the Port Barre High School valedictorian at commencement exercises in May.
So, why is she playing games when she could be preparing for a career as a chemical engineer?
The answer is simple. Andrus loves a challenge and has found a new one behind the plate this season catching for Lady Devils ace Elizabeth Kaiser.
"Kelsi is doing a phenomenal job," said Port Barre coach Charles Vidrine. "This is her first year ever catching. She's an infielder-made-catcher."
