At a special meeting Tuesday, the Abbeville City Council voted to fire Officer William Proctor. Proctor has been on administrative leave since December, when he was involved in a shooting.
According to Abbeville Police Chief Tony Hardy, an internal affairs investigation found Proctor violated department policy, by failing to perform his duties in a satisfactory manner. Proctor's termination comes just two weeks after a grand jury found no evidence to indict Proctor in the case.
