1) The 1974 Constitution had given the Board of Trustee's the exact same rights as the Board of Regents.

2) A District court Judge with LSU leanings told the Board of Regents that Louisiana's Constitution enacted in 1974, did not give them the right to Name institutions under their control.

3) Within weeks of his ruling (between District and Appeals court) the 1984 Legislature passed a new Law in effect slapping the judges ruling and reinstating what the District Court Judge had just taken away. In effect proving that the Trustees executive act was 100 legal.

Another separate but equal system. The 1974 constitution gave both boards the exact same rights.

Many in the 1984 Legislature were members the constitution writing 1974 Legislature.

In 1984 they simultaneously showed original 1974 intent, but this time openly carried a pro LSU slant.
