I find it a little troubling that late in the game, when the opponent has 2 to 3 players on the court with 4 fouls, we refuse to try and drive in to draw the foul and get those guys, usually game changers (Finn from stAte and Neighbor from UALR), knocked out of the game. Am I the only one seeing this as odd..... I mean I know we don't normally like to drive the ball in but if it gives you the ability to take one of the opponents better players off the court wouldn't you at least consider doing it? I know for a fact our PG's had many instances in which they could have driven in on Finn or #24 to try and draw the 5th foul in regulation but didn't. Just my opinion though.
You don't know what a thrill that was for me last night---Man if you think you appreciate Raymone and Bum Bum a Loo on defense---you should see them fighting to get over the picks up close----I have to say that ASU runs their offense with a lot more intensity then we do-----Everything is so much faster like the guards running through their plays---Anyway thanks again!!!!
Players families need to stay off the message boards. Right now there are NO superstars. None...not even yours... Marlin has done a great job just overcoming some of the "me first" attitudes... Mom and Dad...sis, bro...aunt, uncle..gramps and MeMaw...stay out of the freakin coaching business.
Thanks,
Z
I don't really get it. I mean we have 3 or 4 dynamic players that we can call an offensive play for. It just seems better to me to set up a play and let the players execute.
I don't dispute Marlin is a great coach. I don't dispute our talent level isn't where it needs to be yet. I just think we have some things fundamentally wrong with our team right now. Its a bit frustrating for me as a fan but I like where we are now as opposed to 3 or 4 years ago. I just hate for a game like that to slip away from us.
It's like Coach Marlin said.
UL has been in "7" over time games the last two years. In those games UL is 6-1
I've come to the conclusion that if we are up by 3 with time running down.. we foul someone on the inbound play. No way we let anyone shoot a last second 3 on us.
stAte was a different situation that Little Rock. They hit their 3 with 9 seconds left too much time left to foul.
I agree, I don't see us getting it done in tournament play or in the Big Show.
We win on guts alone but not with skill. All I see is driving to the basket when you have 8 guys already there.
We can't win out of conference games and without that we get NO national recognition and we need that to be considered for post season play both NIT and NCAA.
I know Marlin is in his 2nd and I hope by his 3rd year we have perimeter shooters.
Playing on guts all the time won't win all the times.
GEAUX CAJUNS.
