Thread: The Softball Dynasty at Louisiana

  1. Default The Softball Dynasty at Louisiana

Lafayette, LA is home to the Ragin’ Cajuns and one of college softball's great dynasties. This season the Cajuns will be wearing the new Diamond Dynasty by Ringor. History shows us that a dynasty is built one day, one step at a time. The foundation is ...

Conference dynasty, yes. But its time for the ladies to climb the ladder a bit higher in the tournament (on a more regular basis).

13 consecutive regional appearances! Do you realize how great that is for a mid-major program like ours. Of course we would all like the softball cajuns to be in the college world series every year, but c'mon man.

Lady Cajuns Softball. Always doing more with less.

How many WCWS appearances do we have??

2 WCWS appearances out of those 13 consecutive regional appearances, 2 of which were super regionals with the new super regional format. 5 WCWS appearances total. In my opinion that's pretty damn good.

Name another UL program that has accomplished that. Even baseball hasn't come close to doing what softball has done.

    I can't think of any.

Men's Track & Field has more top 20 finishes and more All-Americans than all other UL sports combined. Admittedly, track is sort of a different animal, in that you could conceivably finish 8th in your conference meet and win a national championship in the same year.

Comparing the different sports programs and their successes don't really say anything. Totally different challenges on a grand scale. UL is blessed to have a great Softball program and in doing so come great expectations. Nothing wrong with wanting the Softball team to reach out and achieve a National Championship. It is within their abilities and we should want them and maybe even expect them to get there.

Top 25 every year. Maybe some of our programs can be canned as mid-major. This one is at the top of college softball with one more step to take.

I agree. The last thing any supporter of any so-called 'minor' sport should do is criticize another 'minor' sport. All are in the same boat, in that MOST fans don't care whether we even play them.

Dude we are considered a mid-major proram for all sports. That's reality. I absolutely agree with you that UL softball is considered in a class with the elite softball programs. Nineteen top 25 teams since 1990, but lets not think that this has been an easy feat. What the Lotief's and UL Softball players acomplish year in and year out is amazing in my mind.
