Couple of things about the refs in this game. They totally ignored multiple stiff arms by the DU ball handlers. I guess I never noticed that style of offense before but they did it at least four times that I noticed.

The bumping at the end of the game. I had moved to that area of the game to be ready to exit, as I had a 120 mile trip home. Yes it was very physical and I was not shocked, but surprised no call for DU at that moment. The Pyton shot with .40 seconds left. Well I did not see the play well enough to say one way or the other, but I was surprised he missed the shot and thought maybe something had happened and then I saw they called a foul. According to the aritcle he was grabbed. Now I know that there is a world of difference between getting bumped going for rebounds and getting grabbed. They will call a grab and may not call physical contact when no one has possession, and the contact had not effect on the shot.

Oh the wife chimed in a few times about the same----I have seen the dribbler kinda pull away before but not the stiff arms----wonder if these WRs could be the start of Denver football in the WAC next year!!! LOL

I wonder what happens if any of hte football teams leave the WAC due to other conference expansion. The WAC is only 1 team away from implosion. Would the WAC continue as a conference without football? If there is no longer a WAC, would Denver come back to the SBC? One would think they would seek another more western conference to affiliate with, but they haven't up to now until the WAC option became available to them.

A good example of a large market team that doesn't carry the market. Some conferences think they need to expand only with large Market teams like N.Texas or FIU /FAU, but they don't carry any of those huge markets.

That's a good point i.e It's not the size of the market but how much support you have in that market - well said. That explains what I have always thought was an unspoken fact regarding the Cajuns. We own Acadiana and will increase support over time in the rest of Louisiana.

They are too far away to play in non conference unless no one else wants to play. Princeton offense is a grind to play against. As far as their market goes, DU has improved their attendance tremendously in recent years and is near the top of the league. Coach Scott has done a good job in every way there and it is no wonder Coach Marlin has so much respect for him. It is true that when they joined the league there was hope of a TV deal as one of their main supporters was a top business executive. Thought was that the business he was involved in would be a main sponsor of the TV deal. CajunExpress is right in that the deal never materialized.

Apparently Joe Scott was not the only Denver person who took issue with the late foul call. On this afternoon's radio show, Scott Prather replayed the end of game play by play call of the Denver broadcaster. To say he was disappointed with the call is putting it mildly. His ranting and raving was rather humorous which is why Scott played the clip. He acknowledged some will say he had a sour grapes view. He not only went off on that call, he spouted off about all the things which have gone against Denver at the Dome since they started coming here. When you win only once in all those years and a few of those losses are in OT, frustration is easy to understand. As far as the call goes, his main complaint was Denver did not get a call when they were going for the last shot at the end of regulation. My view of the difference is that the end of regulation was in a half court set while the end of OT was a breakaway situation. When a guy misses a breakaway layup with contact from someone coming from behind, the officials habitually blow the whistle. I think that is what happened last night. The breakaway situation caused the whistle to blow out of habit and the official probably did not know the time situation. Still if someone gets a clip of his call, they will likely think it has a comedic aspect. I say all this knowing we would probably have the same viewpoint were the situation reversed. Denver should look at all the free throws they missed (uncharacteristic for them) as the reason they lost vs a tough call. Focusing on your opportunities for improvement is how you get better, not on things you have little control over. I will say as a result of the way the game ended, it would shock a lot of folks if we were to win up there in a couple of weeks.
