He didn't get the shot off. I recorded the last second just in case something crazy happened. He shot the ball after the buzzer.

The rule is that with less than .5 seconds left, the player cannot possess the ball. He can only tap it up.

I think Payton shot the 2nd free throw so fast that it caught the clock operator off guard. It definitely didnt start as soon as the player touched it and as mentioned, you cant catch turn and shoot in 0.4 seconds

Looked like he missed on purpose. If so, smart move.

Actually, the rule is anything with 0.3 seconds or less has to be a tip-in. Anything over 0.3 seconds can be catch and shoot. There is no way he was able to catch, turn around 180 degrees, take 2 steps, dribble, and load up for a shot like that all in 0.4 seconds.

He definitely did, but I'm referring to once he got the ball from the ref, he chucked it immediately, and on top of that, yes, it was a fastball to miss the shot.

Thought it was .5 seconds. I stand corrected.

I always like to hear stories from down in the student section.
There was the FIU "no means no" incident from a few weeks back that was entertaining. What did you guys do now?

The ball was definately in his hands when the buzzer went off. But you can't rebound, turn, dribble, and shoot in .4 seconds anyway.
