The fact is that women's basketball is low on the list of priorities for this athletic program as well as 99% of its fans. There is no sense in dumping money into a program that no one cares about and will never have a chance to make that money back. The cost-benifit analysis says that you put that money towards football, basketball, baseball, or softball.
Not nearly correct Mr. Boyd. Less than 1200 home per game and around 2200 per road game. Still it is almost a thousand more than UL.

Kelly never came anywhere close to a thousand a game, so I do not know how they are doing it. Maybe because everything else in BrokeBack U sucks.
Home Attendance avg... = 1155
I was a little off... and im waiting on a 100% confirmation of the pic from McNeese game
Two years before Rogers we went 22-9 and averaged 454 at home.

Lost to Middle in the Sun Belt final. We also had a very good year the next season and lost to Middle in the final. Still crappy numbers. You cannot pay a coach huge money when it is clear the average UL fan does not want to spend their cash on womens basketball. We love our softball team, but they have been great almost every year of their existance.
So for those who think it is awful how we put out such a poor product, do not, do not blame anyone else besides yourself if you do not attend games. I do not attend games and I do not blame the university for this problem. It will take a good coach, and a coach who knows how to market to even make a dent in the problem.
Jerry, part of the attendance problem with Kelley was that EKL only seats about 900. It is a crappy venue. I am convinced that if we bring in a competent coach and start winning like we did with Kelley, WBB can draw on a par with softball [or could if the venue seated enough people]. Not going to be a money maker, but then only football makes money anyway.
And before you ask, no, I don't go to games now. I did when Kelley was coaching, though, and will again when we hire a real coach.
Good to great attendance takes years to build. Years of winning that is.
The year you mentioned The Lady Cajuns had 1025 in attendance at EKL which is pretty much sold out. And in J Kelly Hall's last year attendance for one game was 1512 in the Cajun Dome.
Win and they will come but when you have waht seems like 20+ straight losing seasons under your belt it takes more than a few years of winning before you can build a fan base, but it can be done.
